Sean Cavanagh’s club celebrated 35 year wait for Championship title in some style

This is what it means to win your first county title in 35 years. Sean Cavanagh won many things during his illustrious career, from All-stars to All-Irelands, to player of the year awards. One thing he'd never won, though, and something that surely gnawed away at him was the lack of a Tyrone county Championship with his club. It's the age-old debate, isn't it? Is it sweeter to do it with your club or to do it with your county? Cavanagh is now in the position to claim it's probably better if you've do it with both of them. Last Sunday Cavanagh's club Moy Tír na nÓg GAC defeated Derrylaughan on a scoreline of 2-5 to 1-7 and in doing so won their first adult county title since before the older of the Cavanagh brothers was born. Gavin McGilly, who was the team manager along with Audi Kelly, told us just how much it meant to the club.

"It was amazing to witness the pride and happiness that winning a championship brings to a community. It is something that all GAA clubs dream of. It took them 35 years, but it was well worth the wait," he said.

This week was for celebration, though, and the Moy men were in flying form in the aftermath of their triumph. The whole panel and more congregated in the local GAA drinking establishment, PB's bar, and delivered a rousing rendition of the "Village that they call the Moy," a song written by Ryan Kelly.
