Padraig Walsh anchored Kilkenny well from a full back position that he is starting to look increasingly at home in, while Paddy Deegan and Michael Fennelly were in energetic form in the middle of the field.
Shane Dowling was at his powerful best for the Treaty, sniping some fine points from open play and from frees, but his best efforts weren't enough for Limerick.
While the Cats weren't at their goal-taking best, they never really looked like losing this one despite John Kiely's side's gallant effort.
There was only one man on everybody's lips leaving Nowlan Park, however and that man was Walter Walsh.

We're not sure what the best part about that score was. Was it the unfailing balance and presence of mind to flick the ball behind him when under intense pressure from Declan Hannon? Was it the Quade Cooper-like dummy from the big man? Was it the sublimely accurate on-the-run strike?
