Harbaugh's departure was announced just a few minutes after the 49ers' 20-17 win over Arizona but the departures of several NFL coaches has also filtered through today.
Marc Trestman is also expected to have his rather shocking tenure at the Chicago Bears terminated today.
In his two years in charge the Bears had a record of 13-19 and this season endured a woeful 5-11 campaign.
He's not alone in clearing out his office though as general manager at Chicago, Phil Emery, is also set to also bite the dust.

Atlanta Falcons have decided that Mike Smith is surplus to requirements too after seven seasons in charge.
He enjoyed a decent return of 66-46 as coach but the writing was on the wall as soon as his side crashed 34-3 to Carolina on Sunday and blowing a chance to win the NFC South.

The New York Jets are also clearing the decks today as coach Rex Ryan and general manager John Idzik are looking for new jobs after being 'consciously uncoupled' from their jobs.
