NHL franchise makes nine-year-old Kilkenny boy’s dream come true with amazing heartfelt gesture

Calgary Flames had a packed HQ for the unveiling of their latest signing.

The NHL franchise held a press conference to announce the signing of nine-year-old Kilkenny-born Fionn Daly on a one-day contract. Daly, who currently plays for the Calgary Venom of the Calgary Sledge Hockey Association, moved over to Calgary when he was five. They signed him through the Make-A-Wish Foundation and really pulled out all the stops with the presser announcing the major signing. GM Brad Treliving explained that it was the talent of Daly that caught his attention. The fact that he was born in Ireland was just an added bonus.

"Fionn’s ability is what attracted us to him. He’s also Irish and our boss is big on adding truculent Irishmen to the Calgary Flames so we’re excited to have another Irishman in the fold. He’s very energetic, very happy young guy and loves to talk, especially about the Flames." "Last year, Fionn was offered a day trip to Disneyland through the Make-A-Wish, but he turned it down as his only wish was to be here with the Flames.”
