Pat Venditte is unique, just not that unique
Oakland A's pitcher Venditte is as close to a one-of-a-kind as you'll find in sports.
The A's called the 29-year-old up from the minor leagues over the weekend, and he made his debut against the Boston Red Sox, throwing a pair of scoreless innings on Friday night.
So far, nothing especially headline-worthy. But while switch-hitters, batters who can swing from the left or right-hand side of the plate, are a dime-a-dozen, Venditte is just as effective throwing with his right or left hand and is the first switch-pitcher in 20 years to reach the majors.

Of course, Venditte is a big news story in America, but we think one newspaper went a bit too far in describing his abilities.

Venditte might be a useful guy out of the bullpen now, but wait until Underwater Baseball is launched and he'll be a star. In the meantime, we reckon the Seattle Mariners, Tampa Bay Rays and Miami Marlins will be in touch.
