It's been a big week for Skibbereen's O'Donovan brothers.
First,
they went viral when an endearing interview with the pair appeared on RTÉ after they qualified for the men’s lightweight double sculls semi-final earlier this week.
And now they find themselves in the position to medal as they made it through to the final in dramatic style on Thursday afternoon.
Gary and Paul O'Donovan finished in third place with a time of 6:35.70 in their semi-final, behind winners France and runners-up the United States.

There was very little in it as the leading three reached the line at virtually the exact same time but the O'Donovan brothers have the chance to bring home a medal tomorrow.
There was also glory for
Sinéad Jennings & Claire Lambe who basically mirrored the lads' performance by finishing third in the women’s lightweight double sculls.
The finals of both will take place Friday afternoon at 2:32pm and 2:44pm, to be precise.
And after a tough few days for Irish fans with the boxing, at least we have found some relief in our rowers.
