Roger Federer makes startling drug testing revelation

Roger Federer knows what he puts in his body and insists he is as clean as a newly-made whistle.

The tennis demi-God has spoken out about drug-testing in his sport following Maria Sharapova's recent admission she had been pinged by the World Anti-Doping Association for using a banned substance. Federer believes his sport is clean but admits he may be naive in this stance. When speaking to the press, at the Miami Open, he made a revelation that goes to show how slack some countries are when it comes to anti-doping procedures. He said:

"I still believe we should keep blood samples for 10 years, so athletes and tennis players know that’s the case, that you could get punished retroactively. I’m a big believer in that. "I’ve been in Dubai for 10 years now and I’ve been tested once in 10 years; that’s not okay for me. I get tested more in Switzerland because a tester lives in my village. He comes and sees me the day after my surgery and a week later. "In Dubai they’ve come once because of the Asian games. I’d like it to be the same way and fair."

The 18-time Grand Slam winner added, "I don’t think there is a major problem [in tennis], all I can talk about is myself. "I quadruple check anything I take. I don’t want to take any chances whatsoever."
