Some English cricket supporters would prefer if Eoin Morgan was not around. Melbourne Stars must wish he was not around last night.
Morgan is over in Australia, taking part in the Big Bash before he leads England's one-day side against India.
The Dubliner, and former Ireland international,
has taken some flak in England for refusing to tour with his side in Bangladesh last year. It was a tough Big Bash season for Sydney Thunder, who failed to successfully defend their crown this time out, but at least he ended his stint on a high.
And what a high it was.
Chasing down a target of 189, Sydney were indebted to Morgan's unbeaten 71 off just 50 balls. The final six runs arrived with his team needing five off the last ball to win.
Morgan simply wound up and pinged one into the stands. As soon as he hit it, he knew the game was won.

Post-match, Morgan told the host broadcasters, "It is quite an extraordinary feeling when you get one as cleanly out of the middle as that.
"It's a bit like standing on the [golf] tee box and smashing one straight down the middle. When you hit it, you’re the only person who knows how well you’ve hit it."
