Brendan Dolan couldn't win a place in the last 16 but he won plenty of plaudits.
It was a disappointing enough performance from 'The History Maker' who crashed out of the World Darts Championship at round two at the hands of Dutch man Jelle Klaasen who was in no mood for messing around.
The Irish man went down 4-0 in the end but still pockets a cool £17,000 in prize money after he beat Christian Kist in round one.

It didn't click for Dolan on the day in front of a packed house at the Alexandra Palace in London but he did manage to turn heads on a number of occasions away from whatever the distraction was in the crowd on Wednesday afternoon.
On three occasions - three successive occasions - the Fermanagh native checked out with 135, with 101, and finally with 142 and it was a joy to watch.
"You can expect six darts for the 142," the commentator said.
Not this time.

Those moments of celebration were rare though because, despite threatening to mount a comeback on a number of occasions, Klaasen held Dolan comfortably at arm's length and he cruised into the last 16 himself.
