The 28-year-old from Dublin took the first game 21-8, but Oliveira fought back, cheered-on by the buyout Rio crowd, winning the second game 21-19.
However, Evans took control in the decisive game, winning 21-8, securing his place in the last-16 on Monday and becoming the first Irishman to reach that stage of the Olympic competition.
A brilliant, historical achievement, but Evans wasn't done yet.
He also produced a memorable celebration, which didn't go down well with the Rio crowd.
Scott, who had been booed throughout, didn't care one bit though...
