Tyrone to add three-time All-Star Stephen O’Neill to their management team

The year wasn't meant to end like that for Tyrone. They were supposed to be the team to well and truly challenge Dublin. Mickey Harte's side steamrolled anyone who came before them, they looked unstoppable. For a so-called defensive team, Tyrone were really racking up the scores too. It didn't pan out that way, however. What everyone ended up witnessing was one of the most masterful displays of football that you're ever bound to see in Croke Park when Jim Gavin's Dublin side comfortably beat the Red Hands by 12 points. Things need to change if Tyrone are to get to that top level again, they haven't reached an All-Ireland final since 2008. Well, they have definitely taken a step in the right direction with their latest appointment to their management team. Tyrone legend Stephen O'Neill is believed to have linked up with Mickey Harte for the 2018 season joining the backroom staff of the Tyrone footballers, with the Gaelic Life breaking the news on Thursday. The Clan na nGael club man will bring a wealth of experience to the side having amassed three All-Ireland titles being a part of the most successful period of Tyrone's history. The 37-year-old also has also scooped three All-Stars during his illustrious career in 2001, 2005, and 2009 but hung up his inter-county boots at the end of 2014. O'Neill's inclusion into the management team will be a valuable boost for Tyrone as they will look to win a third successive Ulster title as well as hoping for an improved league performance.
