“I understood that we were always going to be in the first round of the qualifiers because the winner of (Carlow vs. Wexford) played Dublin.
"So, therefore, everything I planned was for the first round of the qualifiers."
Long gone are the days that minnows like Wexford or Carlow could compete with Dublin but more recently managers and players have openly admitted that they simply don't stand a chance.
McEnaney tried to be realistic about the current situation in Leinster and where Wexford are as a county.
"You have to be realistic from a Wexford point of view or with most teams in Leinster, Dublin are that far ahead of the rest, you got to think of it as Championship as a whole.
"You’ve got to think of the three competitions, the National Football League, the Leinster Championship and the All-Ireland series and we take them one at a time."
