When it was recently announced that Sky Sports had lost rights to show the US PGA Championship it caused quite the stir.
It was only days after Sky had announced that they would launch Sky Golf that the US PGA revealed that they would be taking away the rights from Sky Sports to show the final major of the year.
BBC secured rights to show the tournament but most of the tournament is to be shown on the red button meaning that many TV viewers in Ireland will not be able to watch the start studded tournament.
Although BBC Two will be showing live coverage they'll only be broadcasting the closing stages of each day.
However, eir Sport has today announced that they have secured the rights to broadcast the event over the four days with coverage spanning a minimum of five hours each day.
Managing Director of eir TV, Glen Killane said:
“This is massive news for Irish golf fans. They won’t have to miss any of the action as eir Sport will provide comprehensive coverage of the year’s final major. It’s another statement of our on-going intent to give Irish sports fans the best coverage and the best choice."

Rory McIlroy is the favourite to win at Quail Hollow Club this week after a recent return to form.
The 28-year-old
has changed caddy after struggling in the early parts of the year but a fourth place finish at the British Open was followed by finishing fifth at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.
